Hi there! πŸ‘¨πŸ»‍🏫

Do you like art? And is art important?

In this conversation lesson, based on a video from the CBC Arts channel on Youtube, students have the opportunity to discuss thought-provoking questions related to art.

The lesson provides students with plenty of speaking and listening practice as they learn about artists whose works revolve around fighting colonialism.

As an optional extension to the lesson, there are two choices of presentations that you might like to have students plan and deliver.

You're free to edit the materials however you like and, needless to say, feedback is always welcome! ;)

  1. Hi Murilo! I loved the topic and the worksheet. Thinking routines are great for teaching art. The material is really well produced, clear and ready to be used. I miss working with you! As a bilingual art teacher, I'm now getting all kinds of ideas to expand on this. We could start by using the "zoom in" thinking routine instead of the initial introduction to the topic could invite students to contribute with their own world knowledge. They always come up with such interesting takes. We could follow by having students work on questions such as "Who might have created these pieces, where might they be from, why might they have created these", to focus on pushing B2 level production. Then, when students watch the video, they could compare and contrast ("I used to think that... but then the video told me that... and now I wonder if..."). What beautiful pieces and what an inspiring topic!!! You made my day.
