• to teach Ss how to use a monolingual learner’s dictionary to find words in the same word family

What's your star sign? And what, if anything, does that say about your personality?

This conversation lesson kicks off with a discussion about spirituality and the (lack of?) influence of the stars and planets on us -- but only as an excuse to talk about morphology. 🤓🤭

In particular, students analyze how certain suffixes typically appear in adjectives. Additionally, there is a strong element of learner training as students are taught how to use the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English to extend their lexical resource and develop autonomy.
